We would like to take the time to thank the community for all of their amazing support when we first mentioned about bringing a K-9 Unit back into the community. Deputy Bud Floyd was the first K-9 handler for the Armstrong County Sheriff’s Office starting with Gallahad in 1997.  Upon taking office in 2014, Sheriff Bill Rupert realized immediately the benefits to having a K-9 Unit and began asking for support from the community.

The Armstrong County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit consists of Deputy Mark Brice and his K-9 partner, Blak. Together they have endured countless hours of specialized training to be certified in narcotics detection and police utility, (which includes tracking, area and article searches, building searches and apprehension). They are available upon request to assist all law enforcement agencies within Armstrong County and surrounding Counties. They conduct visits local schools and attend numerous community events, where they show some of their skills and raise drug awareness.

Please know that the fundraising is ongoing to raise money for the K-9 program. There is minimal county financial support and no state or federal government financial assistance to support our K-9 team. We are always selling T-shirts and Hoodies in the Sheriff’s Office. We also host events, such as the Bud Floyd Memorial Golf Outing, and the K-9 Kruise-Aid. All Proceeds go to towards the Armstrong County Sheriff’s K-9 Fund.
We are always accepting donations towards our K-9 program.

Anyone interested in making a donation, may do so in person or by sending a check made out to, “Armstrong County Sheriff K-9 Fund” at:

2019 Penny War Fundraiser

Deputy Mark Brice and his K-9 partner Blak, went to visit Elderton Elementary School where they had a Penny War Fundraiser for the K-9 Unit. They went over what it is they do, did some demonstrations and took questions from the children. It didn't take long to realize who was stealing the show. The children were definitely mesmerized by K-9 Blak! From all of us at the Armstrong County Sheriff's Office, we would like to say...THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED AT ELDERTON ELEMENATARY SCHOOL! If your PTO would be interested in hosting a visit with Deputy Mark Brice and K-9 Blak, please call the Sheriff's Office. (724) 548-3265.
