2014 Recycling Poster Contest Winners Announced PDF Print E-mail

Featured on the front cover of the 2014 Recycling Calendar is the Grand Prize Winning
entry submitted by Elizabeth Aston, a 9th grader from Kiski Area Sr. High School.

The Armstrong County Board of Commissioners and the Progressive Workshop of Armstrong County have
announced the 2014 Recycling Calendar Contest Winners.

Elizabeth Aston was selected as the grand prize winner of the 19th annual Armstrong Recycling Center Poster
Contest. Her poster titled "Armstrong County Recycling Center" is featured on the front cover of the calendar.

Posters by 12 additional students were selected to represent each month of the year. Those winners include:
Sarah Austin, Britney Edwards, Kayla Cratty and Kat Martinelli, Allegheny Clarion Valley Jr. Sr. High School;
Katherine Myers and Jayden Snyder, Apollo Ridge Elementary School; Gianna Dobransky, Divine Redeemer
School; Hallie Zidek, Kiski Area Intermediate School; Marissa Mitchell, Kittanning Jr. High School; Karlee
Shoemaker, Redbank Valley Intermediate School; Cora Crytzer, South Buffalo Elementary School; and Hannah Sperl, West Hills Primary School.

Featured Honorable Mention was Joseph Carpenter, Allegheny Clarion Valley Jr. Sr. High School. Other
honorable mentions include: Alyssa Starkey and Tracy Weng, Apollo Ridge Elementary School; Erin Alworth,
Casey Borland, Aaron Peterson, Winter Hall and Halee Wetzel, Allegheny Clarion Valley Jr. Sr. High School;
Shannon Anthony, Divine Redeemer School; Liam McIlwain, Kittanning Jr. High School; Brianna Guenther,
South Buffalo Elementary School; Natalie Grates, West Hills Intermediate School; and Ariana Bowser, West
Hills Primary School.

All winners received a certificate signed by the Armstrong County Board of Commissioners and the Progressive
Workshop of Armstrong County and an Armstrong Recycling Center t-shirt made of 50% recycled plastic.

Grand Prize Winner Elizabeth Aston, also received a gift certificate donated by Fox's Pizza Den, Kittanning, PA.

Calendars are free to the public and are available at the following locations: Armstrong Recycling Center,
Progressive Workshop and the Armstrong County Department of Planning and Development.
